The rivers

The most famous is the river Bečva which flows on the banks of Trojačka in the elevation of 880m. It flows throuh the valleys which create the south and the west border of the hills of Vsetín and after 59,5km there the Bečva of Rožnov empty into it in Valašské Meziříčí. To the largest branches belongs Jesenice and Bystřice (from the right side), the Tišňavský stream, Stanovnice, Kychová, Senice, Rokytenka and Ratibořka (from the left side).

The karstic caves

Because of the solid rock compilation there are no karstic caves. But there are still some caves, about 39 of them were located in the district Vsetín. Not far from Karolinka there are „Kobyliské důry“. The next locality is Vaculov, about 3km north-westerly from the top Cáb (842m). There are also some small caves on the top Zámčisko southerly from the lake Bystřička.

Woods

There are a lot of woods and the region is fallen in the third place in Czech republic, first is Jeseník and Jablonec nad Nisou. 54% of the region are covered by woods. There are also some deal-beeched forests, for example Kutaný in Halenkov, Dinotice, Razula in Velké Karlovice or Hradisko-Pulčín.

Flora

There are blended warm kinds with the mountainous kinds together. There is an isolated kind not grown in other places in Czech republic, just in Javorníky – Centaurea mollis. In the north part of the valley Dinotice there are teens of flowered fields with the rich population of orchids (11 kinds). The orchids´ fields we can also find by the community Hovězí, Huslenky, by Janová, Nový Hrozenkov. On the root of the banks and in the surroundings of the streams there are a lot of wet flowers with their typical vegetation.

 The animals

In the running water there were noted 19 original kinds of fish, the next 5 kinds are artificially boosted. In the water basins there are next 15 kinds. The birds are specially protected animals. In the region there were 245 kinds of birds, 122 kinds nest regularly, for example the black stork, the pigeon, the grey oriole and the black woodpecker. In the region there regularly appears the bear, most often in the east part, for example in 1990 by Halenkov, in 1995 by Nový Hrozenkov, in 2000 in the area of Dušná, Soláň and Dinotice. There live also some weasels, martens, badgers, fitches and foxes. In the last years there appears also a bobcat on the tops of Javorníky.
